Head To Head
France have won four of their last 10 against Ireland, with the Irish winning six times including their last two against the French.
Ireland Form
Ireland have been easing towards the Grand Slam crown in 2025, with the men in green beating England, Scotland and Wales. With the Triple Crown already secure, the Irish know that winning against France will give them a massive opportunity to secure the Grand Slam against Italy in their final game.
Despite winning all three of their matches to this point, the Irish were not at their best against Wales in round three. To Ireland's credit, they still secured the win despite not quite hitting top gear. The Welsh were looking for a big statement after parting company with head coach Warren Gatland, and they gave the Irish some issues, going into half-time 13-10 up.
The best side in the northern hemisphere showed their skill as they won the second-half 17-5, with this helping them to a 27-18 win. Now, Ireland turn their attention to their biggest opposition in the competition this year.
The contest itself is incredibly tight, shown by how close the pair are in the betting. Instead of wagering on the winner, I am backing the home side to score a try as the first scoring play. They have managed to touch down over the white line in their last two as they open the scoring, and I back them to control the game in the opening stages as they score the first try.
France Form
France went from hugely disappointing against England to demolishing Italy in the space of one match, with their 73-24 win seeing the nation score 11 tries in one of the most one-sided Six Nations contests in some time.
While the Italians were poor in the second-half in particular, you cannot take anything away from France. Their 26-25 loss to England in round two deprived them of the chance to go head-to-head with Ireland in a potential Grand Slam decider in this match. However, despite this not being a Grand Slam decider for France, a win could put them above Ireland in the table.
We have been hugely impressed by France's Louis Bielle-Biarrey in the opening three rounds. The winger has scored five tries already, with two braces coming against Wales and England. I back him to cap off a French move at some point in the game, with the speedster quickly highlighting himself as one of the most deadly finishers in the game right now.
Verdict
I am backing Ireland to open the scoring on the day with a try, with Bielle-Biarrey to add another try to his collection as he edges closer to ending the competition as the top try scorer.
