England vs Scotland Preview & Tips - England to finally get one over on Scotland in the Six Nations

Scotland were comfortably beaten by Ireland in their last outing as they slipped to a 32-18 home loss. 

England have won four of their last 10 against Scotland, with the Scottish winning five matches and one game ending as a draw. 

England rode their luck massively in their last game as the usually ruthless French butchered a number of chances to go in at half-time with a try-scoring bonus point already secured. As it was, England clung on in the first-half before growing into the game and stealing a 26-25 win with the final scoring play of the game. 

England now have a huge chance to secure two wins from their three hardest games ahead of entirely winnable matches against Italy and Wales. The worry for Steve Borthwick's side is that defeat to Scotland would be a fifth consecutive loss to their arch-rivals, while it would really undermine their win in match day two. 

Tommy Freeman has been in fine scoring form so far, securing tries against both Ireland and France. His aerial presence coupled with his powerful running will provide a real threat on England's wing. While England are the favourites to win this one, I predict a very close match. Scotland have won their last four against England, meaning they have experience of pushing their rivals all the way. 

Scotland's Six Nations campaign has been very unconvincing so far, with the nation winning once and losing once heading into their third match. 

Their 31-19 win over Italy saw the Scottish collect maximum points on the road, but they were no match for Ireland in round two. Their 32-18 loss at Murrayfield laid bare the difference between themselves and the best sides in the game. Ultimately, Ireland cantered to the win, and it felt like they left a number of tries out on the field despite winning comfortably. 

Against England, I expect things to be tight. Finn Russell's potential selection after being hit in the head against Ireland would be a huge boost, with his ability to play to the line, fire flat passes into the hands and exploit space behind proving to be a real weapon. I also predict that Duhan van der Merwe will haunt England once again, with the winger consistently battering into England's defensive line. While I am not backing Scotland to win this one, I believe they will push England all the way.
