C9NY won the last clash with Ultra 3-0 in February; however, there is no clear favourite heading into this match. Both squads have looked good during the qualifiers and look more than ready to produce a deep run at Major 2, yet there can only be one winner on Thursday.
With little to separate them quality-wise, it is impossible to say which of the two teams is objectively better. Cloud9 New York have slightly better performance stats, but that does not guarantee a comfortable win. Expect a close game.
- Clash of two evenly matched teams
- Cloud9 New York have been improving
- Expect a competitive game
Head to Head
Toronto Ultra last met with Cloud9 New York in the first week of CDL 2025 Stage 2 Major Qualifiers, when they lost in two maps.
- Cloud9 New York 3-0 Toronto Ultra – February 16, 2025
Cloud9 New York Form
Cloud9 New York did not have the best start to the year, and it seemed like no matter what they tried, they could not find any stability. Recently, that has changed, and C9NY have started to play much better and are now a formidable mid-table team.
C9NY ended the second qualifiers with a 4-3 record, with losses to Vancouver Surge (2-3), Carolina Royal Ravens (1-3), and Atlanta FaZe (1-3). It's not a terrible record, but C9 did seem a bit inconsistent, especially Mack and Kremp, who have not been performing as well as they could've.
On the other hand, Cloud9 New York have been improving, and if they can keep on this trajectory, they should be in a fine spot to derail Toronto Ultra for the second time of this stage.

Toronto Ultra Form
Toronto Ultra, like Cloud9 New York, have been holding on well at this stage and have shown some good things. They finished Minor 2 in third-fourth place and ended the second online stage in third, with an impressive 5-2 record.
Throughout the second qualifying stage, Toronto Ultra defeated Carolina Royal Ravens (3-1), Boston Breach (3-2), OpTic Texas (3-0), Vegas Falcons (3-1) and Vancouver Surge (3-2), but were no match for LA Thieves (0-3) and Cloud9 New York (0-3).
Toronto Ultra have not looked bad, but they've been the same team since the start of the season – good, but not great. Unlike C9NY, Ultra seem to have stagnated and it does not help that Toronto Ultra already lost this series in February.
Toronto Ultra Squad & Team News
Toronto Ultra have not made any roster changes.

Verdict
This one is very difficult to call, as you can easily make a case for either of the two teams. Ultra seem a more stable squad, but while they've been consistent, Ultra have also been consistently mediocre.
Cloud9 New York are a bit more volatile, but they've had higher highs in the second stage. By the numbers, C9NY are slightly better, with a better win rate on Search& Destroy and Control. They also have a slightly better map pool.
I can see this one going either way, but it is highly likely we'll see it finish on map five.
