Jannik Sinner has been excellent at the start of 2025, winning each of his four matches and rarely looking truly troubled. It is worth noting that he has only won one match in straight sets, but no opponent has really pushed Sinner too hard.

His 4-0 record in 2025 sees Sinner building on a stunning 73-8 record in 2024. The Italian was rarely beaten last year and he looks like he is bringing his best to the Australian Open this month. While little can be taken for granted in a very competitive men's side of the game, Sinner will be the choice of many to snare the Australian Open crown in 2025.

His perfect record against de Minaur will see Sinner arrive with a big psychological advantage. While I predict that Sinner will once again drop a set, I do not see him losing to his opponent.

Alex de Minaur Form

Alex de Minaur has been excellent this year, winning each of his five matches including his first four at the Australian Open.

A trio of 3-0 wins have come alongside a battling four sets win over Francisco Cerundolo in the third round, with de Minaur in good touch heading into this one. Like Sinner, de Minaur is looking to build on a positive record in 2024, although his record of 47 wins and 21 defeats is not in the same bracket as Sinner.

While I do predict that de Minaur can give Sinner some issues, I do not foresee him securing more than a single set as he is eliminated in the quarter-finals.
