Scotland vs Wales Preview & Tips

Scotland slipped to a second successive defeat in the Six Nations as they were beaten by arch-rivals England at Twickenham.

Despite playing some good rugby against Ireland, Wales still slipped to defeat as they edged closer to the wooden spoon in the Six Nations in 2025.

Scotland have won four of their last 10 against Wales including their last two meetings. Meanwhile, Wales have won the other six.

Scotland's lofty ambitions of winning the Championship lie in tatters heading into their fourth match after losing their last two outings.

Their 32-18 loss to Ireland was hardly surprising, but the manner of their defeat was something of a shock. Indeed, the home side were nowhere near good enough on the day and Ireland could have won by a far bigger margin if they had been slightly more accurate with the ball in hand. Meanwhile, Scotland looked out of ideas at key times, with the home side slipping to defeat.

They were then on the cusp of yet another big win over England, but they could not kill the game off when it mattered. Neither England nor Scotland were great on the day, but the Scottish will likely feel like the shaded the contest.

Duhan van der Merwe scored what almost proved the match-winning try, while he crossed the line against Ireland too. The powerful winger is always a danger to the opposition, regardless of where he picks up the ball. However, Scotland have to find a way to get him in the game more as he can win them games if he is provided with space.

Wales Form

Wales looked far better in their last outing as they began life after Warren Gatland with a battling 27-18 loss to Ireland at the Principality Stadium.

Whereas they were humiliated in a 43-0 loss to France in the opening match of the tournament, Wales looked more solid defensively against Ireland, while they had their moments with ball in hand. Once again, Jac Morgan was superb with and without the ball, with the Welsh a far better side when their captain is available following injury.

The worry for Wales is that despite a better performance in their last outing, they were still beaten. This was their 15th consecutive Test defeat. Unfortunately for Wales, travelling to face Scotland at Murrayfield is not an easy job, and I predict another defeat for the struggling side.
