Leeds United will be aiming to snap out of a recent poor run as they travel to Middlesbrough for a midweek English Championship fixture.

The visitors have been well below their best lately and have now lost top spot in the table. In contrast, Boro are showing some good form at the moment and having picked up some fine results at home, should do enough to avoid defeat here.

Middlesbrough are in fine form in the Championship and come into Tuesday’s clash unbeaten in six of their last seven matches. They have picked up five wins in that run, including a 2-0 victory at Blackburn Rovers last weekend.

That upturn in form has put Middlesbrough in a great position for the promotion playoffs, sitting fifth in the table, although Bristol City and Coventry City are close behind. Manager Michael Carrick will know his team must keep winning and the good news is that they have been victorious in their last three home matches.

While things are going good for Middlesbrough, they still need to tighten up at the back having failed to keep a clean sheet in four of their last five home matches. However, they have scored in the five of the last six fixtures, with the last two producing over 2.5 goals.

Leeds United Form

Having led the league for so long, things have suddenly gone downhill for Leeds United, who have picked up just one win in their last five matches. That poor run has seen them lose top spot and Daniel Farke’s team have now dropped to third in the table, two points off the pace.

Farke continues to insist that he is 100% certain that Leeds United will secure promotion this season. However, the Whites will need an immediate upturn in fortunes as they travel to the Riverside Stadium winless in their last three away matches, playing out a 1-1 draw at struggling Luton Town last weekend.

One of the problems for Leeds United is a shaky backline that is without a clean sheet in seven of the last eight matches. However, they remain one of the best attacks in the Championship, scoring in eight of the last nine fixtures, two of the last three in that run have produced over 2.5 goals.

Leeds United have gotten the better of Middlesbrough in recent meetings, winning five of the last six matches. The visitors claimed a 3-1 home victory in the reverse fixture back in December.
