Liverpool are looking to bounce back from a poor run prior to the international break as they host Everton in a midweek English Premier League fixture.
The hosts are still in a commanding position at the top of the table while the visitors have eased their relegation fears. The Merseyside Derby is always an intense encounter but the Reds superior quality should see them edge this one in front of their fans.
Liverpool Form
It was a week to forget for Liverpool just before the international break as two potential trophies slipped through their fingers. Mohamed Salah is likely to be fired up for this one and will look to add to his 27 Premier league goals this season. However, the Reds will need to tighten up at the back having failed to keep a clean sheet in six of their last seven Premier League home matches, all of which have produced over 1.5 goals.
Everton Form
Everton are enjoying a period of resurgence under David Moyes and are unbeaten in their last nine matches. The last four fixtures in that run have ended in draws, including a 1-1 home scoreline with West Ham last time out.
Despite the run of recent draws, Everton have managed to ease themselves away from danger, sitting 17 points above the relegation zone. The Toffees still need to improve on their travels, with just two wins from the last 10 Premier League away matches.
Iliman Ndiaye hands Everton a major attacking boost as he returns after being out since suffering an injury in the reverse fixture at Anfield. The attack might be firing but the visitors are without a clean sheet in their last six Premier League matches, with all of those fixtures producing over 1.5 goals.

A late James Tarkowski strike earned Everton a 2-2 home draw in the reverse fixture back in February. However, the result meant Liverpool remain unbeaten in six of the last seven meetings and have also won the last three home matches against their rivals.
Verdict
Both teams are often fired up for the Merseyside Derby but Liverpoo have extra motivation given the events just before the international break. The Reds have won in an outcome of over 1.5 goals in their last four home matches and could be set for a repeat here.
