Bologna will be targeting a first leg advantage when they travel to Empoli for a midweek Coppa Italia semi-final clash.
The visitors are having an impressive season and come into this match with plenty of momentum. They should be too strong here and are expected to claim the win over the hosts, who may be distracted by their battle to stay in Serie A.

Empoli are battling relegation at the moment but have pulled off a string of upsets on their way to the Coppa Italia semi-final. They have gone past Torino and Fiorentina, and beat Juventus on penalties in the quarter-finals following a 1-1 draw after extra-time.
While things are looking up in the Coppa Italia, Empoli's league form has suffered as they are currently in the relegation zone. They played out a 1-1 draw at Como last weekend to extend their winless run to four matches and survival might be paramount in their thinking heading into Tuesday’s clash.
There has been little respite at the Stadio Carlo Castellani for Empoli, who are winless in their last eight home matches across all competitions. Roberto D'Aversa's men have been beaten six times in that run with some heavy defeats among their results, like the 5-0 thrashing at the hands of Atalanta.
Bologna Form
Bologna were one of the surprise teams in Serie A last season and seem to have gotten even better this term under Vincenzo Italiano. They are currently challenging for a top four place and remain well on course to end their campaign with some silverware.
It has been a solid Coppa Italia campaign for Bologna, who edged out Atalanta 1-0 to reach the semi-final of the competition. They head into Tuesday’s clash with five straight wins across all competitions, including a 1-0 Serie A victory at Venezia last weekend.
Riccardo Orsolini scored the only goal at Venezia and is the man in form at the moment having found the net four times in his last four matches across all competitions. He is a vital part of an attack that has scored first in the last three matches.

Bologna are unbeaten in the last four matches against Empoli, although the last two fixtures have ended in draws. Both teams battled to 1-1 scorelines in their two Serie A meetings this season.

Empoli may have held out in the two Serie A meetings with Bologna but appear to have gotten significantly worse since then. They have lost their last three home matches and with the visitors winning their last two on the road, an away win is on the cards here.
