Brentford vs Chelsea Tips & Preview - Open contest to produce goals
- Chelsea visit Brentford aiming for a top-four finish.
- Both teams tend to score more in the second half.
- Anticipate a close contest with likely goals after halftime.

Brentford vs Chelsea
Chelsea will be looking to maintain their push for a top four finish as they travel to Brentford for an English Premier League fixture on Sunday.
The Blues have shown some good form lately but remain unconvincing on the road while the hosts have struggled in front of their fans. Both teams have a tendency to concede and could be set to offer up goals here.
Brentford Form
Brentford have been slowly slipping away in the race for the European places and are now 10 points off the top five after losing 2-1 at Newcastle United in midweek. They have been inconsistent in the last few weeks and have picked up just three wins from their last six Premier League matches.
A strange feature of Brentford's season is that they seem to do better on their travels while struggling in front of their fans. Thomas Frank’s team head into this clash winless in their last seven Premier League home matches.
Led by Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa with a combined 30 Premier League goals this season, Brentford are solid in attack and have scored two of their last three goals after the break. Their last two matches have produced over 2.5 goals while two of the last three fixtures have had halftime draws.
Chelsea Form
Chelsea returned to fourth in the table after Enzo Fernandez’ second half effort gave them a 1-0 home win over London rivals Tottenham Hotspur. They have Manchester City and Newcastle United close behind but are in the driver's seat in the race for the UEFA Champions League places.
The Blues have been unspectacular lately but seem to be getting the results having won five of their last six matches across all competitions. However, Enzo Maresca's men have struggled on their recent travels and are winless in their last seven away matches.
Chelsea had Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson back from injury in midweek, boosting an attack whose last five goals have come in the second half. The visitors have been level at the break in four of their last five matches across all competitions while five of their last six fixtures have produced over 2.5 goals.
Head to Head
Chelsea and Brentford have three wins each and two draws from their last eight matches. The Blues claimed a 2-1 home victory in the reverse fixture back in December.
Verdict
The last two meetings have produced over 2.5 goals and with a similar outcome in five of Chelsea's last six away matches, a repeat is expected here. Both teams have a habit of leaving things till the second half and should produce more goals after the break for the fourth straight meeting.
With Brentford struggling at home and Chelsea unconvincing on their travels, a close contest is expected here. Both teams have served up a few halftime draws in recent weeks and are likely to be level at the break on Sunday.
