Bayer Leverkusen have the chance to move within three points of leaders Bayern Munich when they host Bochum in a Friday night German Bundesliga fixture.
The reigning champions have clawed back some of the points deficit at the top of the table and appeared to be building momentum prior to the international break. With Patrik Schick still looking sharp up front, they should have too much for the visitors, who are second from bottom.

Bayer Leverkusen now have Bayern Munich within their sights after closing the gap to six points thanks to a 4-3 victory at Stuttgart in their previous Bundesliga fixture. They fought back from two goals down, with Schick netting an injury time winner.

The task for Bochum in the final weeks of the season is to navigate their way out of the relegation zone. Dieter Hecking's men are currently second from bottom in the table, seven points from safety.
One of the problems for Bochum is their inconsistency as they are winless in seven of their last nine Bundesliga matches. They suffered a 3-1 home defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt in their last league fixture prior to the international break.
Something that will give Bochum hope heading into Friday’s clash is their away record having gone unbeaten in their last three Bundesliga matches on the road. They claimed an impressive 3-2 victory over Bayern Munich in their previous fixture on the road, fighting back from two goals down to secure the win.

Recent meetings have been a bit one-sided, with Bayer Leverkusen unbeaten in seven of the last eight matches against Bochum. The hosts were held to a 1-1 draw in the reverse fixture in November but had claimed a 5-0 victory and a 4-0 triumph in the previous two meetings.
Verdict
