Barcelona will be targeting a first leg advantage when they host Atletico Madrid in the Copa del Rey semi-final.
The Catalans have been in good form lately and will also be keen to get their pound of flesh having suffered a home defeat in their La Liga meeting back in December. With the visitors looking unconvincing on their recent travels, the hosts should claim the upper hand here.
Barcelona Form
It has been a smooth ride for Barcelona in this season’s Copa del Rey having breezed through the previous rounds. They claimed a 5-0 victory over Valencia last time out to secure a place in the semi-final.
That win over Valencia is part of a recent run of good results for Barcelona, who are unbeaten in their last 13 matches across all competitions. Hansi Flick’s team won the last five fixtures in that run and picked up a 2-0 La Liga victory at Las Palmas on Saturday.
While Barcelona's home form has been solid, they have looked a bit shaky at the back lately and are without a clean sheet in six of their last eight matches in front of their fans. The Catalans have also seen over 2.5 goals in five of the fixtures in that run.
Atletico Madrid Form
Atletico Madrid have also faced very little resistance in the Copa del Rey having comfortably won all five of their matches in the competition. Like the hosts, they were also rampant in the previous round, claiming a 5-0 victory over Getafe to reach the last four.
Diego Simeone's men appear to be playing a notch below that level at the moment and only ended a two-match winless run with a 3-0 La Liga victory at Valencia over the weekend. They have also been unconvincing on their recent travels, with two wins from their last four away matches across all competitions.
Atletico Madrid have quality going forward and have scored in 12 of the last 13 away matches across all competitions, with three of the last five in that run producing over 2.5 goals. However, they are not as solid defensively and are without a clean sheet in three of their last four fixtures on the road.
