AC Milan vs Inter Milan

Inter Milan will aim to take another step towards the treble as they battle local rivals AC Milan in the Coppa Italia semi-final first leg.

This will be the fourth Milan Derby of the season, with the Rossoneri constantly thwarting their rivals every step of the way. While this tie is likely to be decided after the second leg, both teams should serve up another thrilling encounter on Wednesday.

AC Milan Form

AC Milan have made their mark in the domestic cup competitions and have already won the Super Coppa after beating Inter Milan in the final. A 3-1 victory over Roma in the previous round earned them a place in Wednesday’s semi-final first leg.

The Coppa Italia has been the one respite in a disappointing season for AC Milan. They are currently ninth in Serie A and head into this clash off the back of a 2-1 league defeat to Napoli on Sunday.

Manager Sergio Conceicao is yet to find the right balance as AC Milan often impress in attack but tend to give away goal scoring opportunities. The Rossoneri have scored and conceded in their last six matches across all competitions, all of which have produced over 2.5 goals.

Inter Milan Form

A 2-0 victory over Lazio in the previous round was enough to earn Inter Milan a place in the semi-final of the Coppa Italia. The Nerazzurri are still on course for the treble, sitting three points clear at the top of Serie A and through to the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.

Inter have been in good form lately and head into this match unbeaten in their last eight matches across all competitions. Simone Inzaghi’s men claimed a 2-1 victory over Udinese in a Serie A fixture last weekend thanks to goals from Marko Arnautovic and Davide Frattesi.

Arnautovic's effort highlights the depth of Inter Milan’s attacking quality as they scored first for the eighth straight game despite being without captain Lautaro Martinez. However, defending remains an issue as they have failed to keep a clean sheet in three of their last four matches, all of which have produced over 2.5 goals.

Inter Milan have the superior record in this fixture but have fallen short in recent matches.

AC Milan are unbeaten in their three meetings this season, claiming a 2-1 win in the first Serie A clash before a 1-1 draw in the reverse fixture. Sandwiched between both clashes was a 3-2 victory in the Italian Super Cup final.
