Neither team have shown any form of consistency this season, which makes it easy to believe this will be a scrappy affair, slightly favouring Cloud9 New York who bested the Surge a month ago.

However, Vancouver Surge looked rejuvenated with Neptune, and their win against Atlanta FaZe on the first day of Major 2 qualifiers might be a sign of good things to come.

At best, this should be a 50/50 match, but I am leaning more towards the Surge, who looked like a better version of themselves on Friday.

Cloud9 New York have been all over the place with their results this season. They ended CDL 2025 Stage 1 Major Qualifiers in 11th place with a 1-6 record and exited the Major 1 in seventh-eighth, with just one victory against the shaky Boston Breach.

With a 3-8 record, Cloud9 New York are not in the best shape, albeit they have posted some good performances lately and are pretty good on Control, especially on Protocol, which is their best map. This, however, might not be enough to best Surge on Sunday, as C9NY are set to face a better version of the team they bested last month.

Vancouver Surge opted for some roster changes before the start of CDL 2025 Stage 2 and added Neptune to their lineup. This change paid off early, as the Surge picked up a massive 3-1 victory against Atlanta FaZe.

It was a very solid showing from the Surge, who reverse-swept FaZe after dropping Hardpoint - Vault (229-250) with 6-4 on Search & Destroy - Red Card, 3-0 on Control - Protocol, and 250-142 on Hardpoint - Protocol.

Neptune had an excellent debut for the Surge, ending the series with 1.11 KD and 93 kills, behind Nastie, who had a monstrous showing with a 1.42 KD and 98 kills.

Vancouver Surge looked much better in their upset win against Atlanta FaZe on the first day of CDL 2025 Stage 2 Major Qualifiers, and while one game does not prove much, the eye test proves that the Surge look like a different team.

Cloud9 New York bested Vancouver Surge in their last meeting, but that does not justify them being priced as favourites. At best, this is a coin-flip game, although if we see another strong showing from Nastie and Neptune, the Surge should be viewed as favourites.
