Toronto Ultra and OpTic Texas will clash on Sunday, March 9, in the third week of Call of Duty League (CDL) 2025 Stage 2 Major Qualifiers, in what is expected to end in a straightforward win for the Ultra.

On paper, these two teams look evenly matched, and you could even make a case for OpTic as a team with better individual players. However, form-wise, OpTic are in the gutter, having shown close to nothing since the start of Stage 2.

They have been struggling a lot and have, so far, beaten just the Vegas Falcons, and even that was not too pretty. Purely off the fact that OpTic Texas are struggling, they are a good fade against any team not named the Falcons.

Toronto Ultra are holding on well this season. While they are not one of the leading title contenders, the Ultra are solid on Hardpoint (50%) and Control (50%), while their Search & Destroy (44.4%) needs a bit more work.

That was evident in Ultra's recent victory against the league's bottom team, Vegas Falcons, who took S&D Red Card. But the Ultra were the dominant force across the other three maps and won comfortably 3-1.

That win marked their fourth over a six-game stretch, which includes losses against two excellent squads, LA Thieves (0-3) and Vancouver Surge (0-3). These two results confirm what was said before – Toronto Ultra are not one of the elite teams. However, they are very efficient in beating weaker opponents.

OpTic Texas Form

It is hard to find any encouraging words when talking about OpTic Texas. They looked pretty solid earlier in the season, but of late, OpTic have shown nothing but concerning results.

They are 1-5 from their last six, and that stretch includes just one victory against the Vegas Falcons. That proves very little, seeing how OpTic have managed just one map over the five losses against Carolina Royal Ravens (1-3), Atlanta FaZe (0-3), Minnesota RØKKR (0-3), Carolina Royal Ravens (0-3), and more recently, Toronto Ultra (0-3).

It is fair to mention that OpTic had their shot at taking maps off Ultra in their last meeting, as they reached the final map on Search & Destroy – Hacienda (5-6) and Control – Vault (2-3).

Toronto Ultra v OpTic Texas

OpTic Texas lost to Toronto Ultra at CDL 2025 Stage 2 Minor, and it is hard to find a reason to believe this match will end any differently. In their defence, OpTic nearly won Search & Destroy and Control on that day, but that proves very little considering how poorly they've been playing this stage.

As much as there is a world where OpTic fix their issues and wake up, I would not back them against any team before they start showing something. Toronto Ultra to win is a no-brainer pick.
