Top Esports will face off against Invictus Gaming in the first round of the losers’ bracket at League of Legends Pro League (LPL) 2025 Split 1 Playoffs in what promises to be an exciting affair between two squads who have made several roster changes.

Top Esports, who have shuffled some things around this offseason, have not looked as dominant as many expected them to, and that’s reasonable. This lineup will need some time to gel and reach their full form, and to some degree, the same applies to Invictus Gaming.

However, while IG do not seem to be quite there yet, they have looked better in their last three outings and seem to have found their groove much quicker than Top Esports. Results-wise, that might not be as obvious, but the eye test proves another story.

There’s a world where Top Esports wake up and perform on Sunday, but Invictus Gaming should be favoured based on what the two teams have shown so far.

Top Esports and Invictus Gaming have yet to meet this season.

Top Esports had a bit of an up-and-down run through the group stage. They picked up two decisive maps against Team WE and one close game to win 3-0. They were not as successful against Anyone’s Legend, and while TES played two close maps, the final was a complete domination from AL.

In their last outing against LGD Gaming, Top Esports nearly lost map one, dominated map two, and turned the third map around after a rough start. It ended in a 3-0 sweep, but the final result does not tell the whole story; Top Esports did not look as dominant as they were expected.

Top Esports will be a great team by the end of the season, but they are not there yet.

Invictus Gaming Form

Invictus Gaming ended the LPL 2025 Split 1 group stage with a dominant victory against FunPlus Phoenix (3-0), adding to their 3-1 victory against Royal Never Give Up in Week 3 and a 1-3 loss to Ninjas in Pyjamas in the second week.

While not a perfect record, Invictus Gaming have done well. Admittedly, they were not all that convincing in their first two games, but they have shown improvement and still have much improvement left to do.

This is a capable roster, which much like Top Esports’ will only get better as the season goes on.

Top Esports v Invictus Gaming

Top Esports and Invictus Gaming have both put together very strong rosters, and neither have yet to reach their final form. Top Esports might fly higher by the end of the season, however, based on what they’ve shown so far, I would lean more towards Invictus Gaming as the better team currently.

They’ve had a tougher group stage than Top Esports, and while IG have had their shaky moments, they have not looked as bad early game, which could be the biggest difference maker here. Based on the results so far, the wrong team is favoured.
