ThunderTalk enter the BO3 series as underdogs, which comes as no surprise, but considering what they’ve shown of late, TT Gaming seem poised to do some damage.

Top Esports are the superior team and most likely victors, but I would not trust them at these numbers, as while TES are an elite-tier team, their lack of consistency is worrying enough to not take their side when priced as massive betting favourites.

ThunderTalk Gaming started their Demacia Cup 2024 campaign in the group stage and while they were not expected to finish top of Group C, TT Gaming took advantage of JD Gaming’s mistakes and made it out alive with a perfect 3-0 record.

In the group stage, ThunderTalk bested JD Gamin, Team WE, and Blood, which is praiseworthy. Yet TT Gaming proved that their run though the group stage was not just a fluke, with their upset victory (2-1) against LNG Esports in the quarterfinals.

Seeing ThunderTalk Gaming defeat LNG Esports should convince anyone that they can potentially beat Top Esports as well. On the other side, TES are a much tougher nut to crack, granted even they have their weaknesses.

Top Esports received a direct invite to Demacia Cup 2024 playoffs, as one of the top-rated LoL Pro League (LPL) teams of the 2024 season. Unlike most other squads TES have not made many changes to their lineup, besides the addition of Kanavi as a new jungler, yet minor changes helped Top Esports retain their tag as one of LPL’s elite teams.

So far at Demacia Cup 2024, Top Esports have played just one game, against Invictus Gaming, who they beat 2-0. It was a solid display from TES, but most of their success on the day was thanks to IG’s errors, and not so much due to Top Esports’ performances.

ThunderTalk Gaming v Top Esports

On paper, Top Esports are the superior team, but that does not convince me they are a good bet at the current esports betting odds.

TES have played just one series this offseason and they did not look great in the sole victory against Invictus Gaming; not to mention that IG are not a particularly strong team. ThunderTalk Gaming, on the other side, look fairly weak on paper, but they’ve played four games at Demacia Cup 2024 and they’ve done well in all four.

TT Gaming seem to have the meta figured out and are warmed up, which are two good reasons to take their side for Friday’s affair. Smaller positions on ThunderTalk Gaming are worth a look.
