ThunderTalk Gaming have looked nothing short of exceptional during the LPL 2025 Split 1 group stage, whereas JD Gaming have had their shaky moments en route to a 3-0 record. Seeing JD Gaming struggle a bit is not too shocking, as they made major roster changes and need time for the players to gel.

TT Gaming, on the other side, kept most of their roster intact and that played a part in their strong start to the season. The question is whether ThunderTalk can keep playing at the same level.

Unlike most other LPL teams, ThunderTalk Gaming decided to keep most of their roster intact for the 2025 esports season, and it seems like the continuity paid off, as TT Gaming have been, so far, playing much better than anticipated.

In their LPL 2025 Split 1 groups, ThunderTalk Gaming were matched with the new LNG Esports, EDward Gaming, and the defending LPL champions, Bilibili Gaming. And they beat all three.

That’s seriously impressive. While the wins against LNG and EDG were close at times, ThunderTalk Gaming’s victory against Bilibili Gaming should not be overlooked, especially considering how dominant BLG have been domestically over the last few years.

TT Gaming dominated BLG on two of the five maps played, so that victory can not be considered a fluke. However, it does not make TT Gaming serious title contenders either.

Across the three series, JD Gaming have not looked as dominant as many expected them to, although they might become a force to be reckoned with with time. Obviously, time is a factor, especially for JDG who made significant roster changes.

With the star power on their roster, JD Gaming should be winning games like this, but ThunderTalk Gaming are live underdogs to upset. A close game is not out of the question.
