Both teams lost their opening series, Team WE against the high-flying Top Esports, while LGD Gaming kneeled against Anyone's Legend. Two vastly different opponents but the same (0-3) results would indicate that Team WE are the better team.

While I am not too excited with the roster Team WE built and the potential high volatility this lineup has, LGD Gaming's lineup does not inspire much confidence either. Having replaced their best players with development players and veterans, LGD Gaming have a development-focused roster rather than a lineup which can get results early.

Team WE look like a team that can slip at any point. But quality-wise, they are better than LGD.

  • Team WE seem very volatile
  • LGD Gaming counting on younger players
  • While unpredictable, Team WE look like a better pick

Head to Head

Team WE and LGD Gaming have yet to meet this season.

Team WE Form

Team WE lost their first match of the season on Saturday when they had to admit defeat to Top Esports (0-3). This result does not tell the whole store nor indicate how this team will do in 2025, but it is fair to say that their complete roster overhaul resulted in a slight downgrade individual talent-wise.

With the change of players also came a change of playstyle, now moving more towards an aggressive approach – mainly due to the addition of coach Jiang "Teacherma" Chen.

With very little info on this team, it is hard to make any conclusions, but on paper, this roster screams volatility – which is good from a betting perspective if Team WE are underdogs, not so much when they're priced as favourites.

Team WE Squad & Team News

Team WE replaced their entire roster for the 2025 esports season.

  • Dai "Cube" Yi – top lane
  • Guo "Tianzhen" Qifan – jungle
  • Kim "Karis" Hong-jo – mid lane
  • Kim "Taeyoon" Tae-yoon – ADC
  • Zhao "Vampire" Zhecan – support

LGD Gaming Form

LGD Gaming made many roster changes this offseason but kept their coaching staff and ADC Chou "Shaoye" Guobin. This approach is a bit of a headscratcher, as LGD Gaming had great metrics in 2024 but lacked macro, which led to many throws, particularly in late game.

In other words, LGD Gaming were a great team without great results. This sounds contradicting, but their stats tell another story.

For 2025, LGD Gaming seem to be in a world of hurt as they lost their best members and build a new lineup with inexperienced players and veterans, evidently hoping to make a more development-focused lineup.

It is not the best approach for getting good results early, which explains their rough loss to Anyone's Legend last week.

LGD Gaming Squad & Team News

LGD Gaming have freshened up their roster for the 2025 season, keeping only their ADC, Shaoye and jungler, Meteror as the only two carryovers from 2024.

  • Yan "Sasi" Rui – top lane
  • Wu "climber" Hongtao – jungle
  • Zheng "xqw" Xiajian – mid lane
  • Chou "Shaoye" Guobin – ADC
  • Zhao "Ycx" Wenhao – support

Verdict

Team WE lost to Top Esports in the first week of action, which was expected. However, they performed well and could've easily won at least one map.

This is largely due to their aggressive style of play, which helped Team WE get lead on map 2 and 3, but they just could not close out the game. This is an issue LGD Gaming are very much familiar with, as a squad who had many advantageous positions in 2024, yet they consistently fumbled in the late game.

Team WE look and are very volatile – as shown in their match against Top Esports. At one point they'll look very competent and completely incompetent the next. This makes making a case for them as favourites a bit harder, but unlike LGD Gaming, WE at least gave me reasons to feel optimistic about them.
