OpTic Texas have officially revealed Cesar "Skyz" Bueno as the newest member of their Call of Duty esports roster on Tuesday. The former Los Angeles Guerrillas M8 player was brought in as a replacement for Kenneth "Kenny" Williams, who was let go after a 19-month tenure with OpTic.

As confirmed by OpTic in an official announcement, the rumours were true. Skyz, formerly of LAGM, is the newest member of the championship roster, replacing Kenny, who was cut from the lineup after the team's struggles in the second stage of the season.

The announcement was made in a live YouTube video, where Skyz and Seth "Scump" Abner discussed the 25-year-old's addition to Optic's roster and the teams' plans for the future.

The abrupt roster change came just a couple of days before the start of CDL 2025 Stage 2 Major, giving OpTic little time to integrate the newest member and aim to improve the impression they've left during the qualifiers.

The team will attend their home Major after a horrid performance in the online stage, where OpTic Texas entered their final match with a 0-6 series and 0-18 map record.

While OpTic managed to pick up their first and only win of the stage against Los Angeles Guerrillas M8 (3-1), improving their final record to 1-6 (3-19 in maps), the small bounce-back was not enough for OpTic Texas to feel confident about their chances heading into the second Major of the season.

In a bid to find more stability, OpTic decided to cut ties with Kenny, who was now replaced by Skyz. The latter last played for the Guerrillas before getting benched by the Los Angeles-based team in February.

Skyz started his Call of Duty League career in 2019 with Florida Mutineers and has since played for New York Sublibers, Cloud9 New York, and more recently, LA Guerrillas M8.

Throughout the last few years, the 25-year-old has accomplished a lot, helping the Subliners win three CDL Major titles, a silver medal from the CDL 2024 Championship and the CDL 2023 championship.

While Skyz is an experienced and proven player, his addition to OpTic does not mean immediate improvement for the defending champions, as they have just two days to prepare for CDL 2025 Stage 2 Major, where they'll start their campaign in the lower bracket.

OpTic Texas will debut Skyz on Friday, March 21, in the losers bracket of Major 2.
