On Monday, February 17, Monte announced the addition of Vladyslav “leen” Stepanov to their Counter-Strike 2 main lineup. The ex-academy player will step up to replace Paweł "dycha" Dycha, who decided to bench himself on Sunday.

Leen started his esports career in January 2023 with Team Scythe, before spending a short stint with LeoGaming and L&G, who the Ukrainian rifler played for between April and September 2023.

In November 2023, Leen joined Monte Gen, with who he competed in various lesser tournaments, averaging a respectable 1.05 performance rating throughout his one-year stint.

With Monte Gen, leen won Exort Series #5, Galaxy Battle #3, and reached the semifinals of CCT Season 2 European Series #9, marking his most notable accomplishment with Monte’s academy team.

The young rifler was removed from the active lineup in January when Monte promoted three of their players - Gytis "ryu" Glušauskas, Jack "Gizmy" von Spreckelsen, and coach Ivan "AiyvaN" Semenecj to the main lineup.

The trio will link up with leen once more under Monte’s main Counter-Strike roster, which now features four academy graduates as well as Serghij "DemQQ" Demchenko and Aleksander "hades" Miśkiewicz as two longest-standing members.

Leen’s promotion to the main Monte lineup comes a day after the departure of dycha, who announced on Sunday that he is leaving Monte after a one-and-a-half-year-long stint.

Dycha joined Monte in July 2024 alongside his former ENCE teammate hades and has since played an integral part in the team, averaging a 1.08 performance rating.

However, the Polish player decided to look for new opportunities, stating that he had mutually agreed to leave Monte at the start of the month.

Leen is expected to debut on Tuesday, February 18, when Monte face off against PARIVISION in ESL Challenger League Season 49: Europe.

Monte have already played three games in ESL Challenger League Season 49: Europe Group B and have managed a 2-1 record. They bested 9Pandas in the opening round, lost to SINNERS Esports in Round 2, and bounced back with a 2-0 sweep of Copenhagen Wolves in Round 3.

With a 2-1 record, Monte are in a three-way tie for first place with six points, putting them in a favourable position to contest a top-two finish.
