Miami Heretics and Vancouver Surge will face off on Sunday, March 9, in the penultimate week of Call of Duty League (CDL) 2025 Stage 2 Major Qualifiers. It will mark their second meeting of the year after the Surge bested Miami Heretics 3-2 in December.

Miami Heretics came close to beating Vancouver Surge last time out, but it is highly unlikely for them to be as successful on Sunday. Vancouver Surge have been playing well over the previous few weeks and look like an entirely different team, having won six of their last seven series.

While the Heretics had their moment in CDL 2025 Stage 1 Major, they are not good nor consistent enough to do well against one of the contenders to break into the top four in the league.

Miami Heretics made a splash with their third-place finish in CDL 2025 Stage 1 Major. However, they have not shown much since, with just one win (against LA Guerrillas M8) over the next four games.

That stretch includes losses to Minnesota RØKKR (1-3), Atlanta FaZe (1-3), and Los Angeles Guerrillas (2-3) at Minor 2. Those results are a better indication of how good Miami Heretics actually are, and, as shown in Stage 1, they're not particularly good online.

But there is more to worry about, as the Heretics only do well on Hardpoint (56.5%) and not so much on Search & Destroy (47.4%) and Control (15.4%)

Vancouver Surge lost their last outing against Los Angeles Thieves (0-3), who snapped their six-game winning streak in half on Friday. Even though the Surge lost, they deserve some slack, as the Thieves are one of the best teams in the league. Moreover, the Vancouver Surge played well on the day.

Jovan "04" Rodriguez and his men came very close to beating the Thieves on Search & Destroy (5-6) and Control (2-3), which again proves how much better the Surge have become on the two game modes. Hardpoint was not as competitive (170-250), but you can't blame Vancouver Surge for losing Hardpoint against Thieves.

Miami Heretics v Vancouver Surge

Vancouver Surge are billed as favourites for this match, and for all the right reasons. They're in excellent shape and have made a case for themselves as one of the most stable and well-rounded teams in the league.

Miami Heretics are anything but that. They do poorly on Control, and their Search & Destroy is not at the needed level to compete with solid teams like Surge. While the Spanish squad might take one Hardpoint, as they are decent on Red Card and Skyline, I would not give them more than that.
