The Los Angeles Thieves and the Carolina Royal Ravens will lock horns for the third time this season on Sunday, March 2, in the Call of Duty League (CDL) 2025 Stage 2 Minor. LA Thieves won the last two meetings, and it is hard to doubt their chances of doing it again.

Not only did the Los Angeles Thieves defeat the Carolina Royal Ravens two weeks ago, but they’ve also looked much better in recent outings and for most of the last two months.
The Royal Ravens have not been playing that well, and they’ve recently shown cracks on respawns, which is a huge problem.
With a strong Search & Destroy win rate, the Royal Ravens can do some damage on Sunday. But I don’t see them winning more than a map against the surging Thieves.

Los Angeles Thieves have been enjoying quite a solid start to the season with their new project. While they’ve had some rough moments in Stage 1, the Thieves performed admirably well during CDL 2025 Stage 1 Major, where they nearly bested Atlanta FaZe in the grand finals.
After a strong display in the first Major of the CoD esport season, the Thieves managed to keep their momentum going and won their first three series of Stage 2 against Carolina Royal Ravens (3-0), Vegas Falcons (3-1), and Toronto Ultra (3-0).
Those results alone are a good indication of where the Thieves stand. But you do not have to look far to see that Los Angeles Thieves are, alongside Atlanta FaZe, in a class of their own.

Carolina Royal Ravens Form
The Carolina Royal Ravens have proven to be very inconsistent so far this season. They looked good early into the year but have since slowed down and have not performed well in the first part of CDL 2025 Stage 2 Major Qualifiers.
They kicked off the second stage with two losses against Thieves (0-3) and Toronto Ultra (3-1) before bouncing back with 3-0 victories against Minnesota RØKKR and OpTic Texas. To that, the Royal Ravens added a 3-0 sweep of LA Guerrillas M8 in the previous round of CDL 2025 Stage 2 Minor.
On paper, the Carolina Royal Ravens seem to be in good form, but that does not take away from how weak they’ve looked on respawns. On a more positive note, the Royal Ravens are excellent on Search & Destroy (66.7%), but their Control and Hardpoint are not good enough to threaten the top dogs.

Verdict
Los Angeles Thieves bested Carolina Royal Ravens twice so far this season, and they look poised to do it again this weekend.
Unlike the Carolina Royal Ravens, who have slowed down over the last two months, the Thieves have been gaining momentum and enter the semifinals as the leading candidates to go all the way and win the whole thing.
Admittedly, LA Thieves need to work on their Search & Destroy (42.1%-win rate), but they excel on Hardpoint and Control, where they hold a much better win rate than the Royal Ravens. And considering how weak the Royal Ravens have looked on respawns, I can’t give them more than one map on Sunday.
