LA Thieves won that game 3-1 and there is little to suggest that the rematch will play out much differently. The Thieves are in great form, having made the finals of the last Major, showing significantly better showings than during the qualifiers.

The Royal Ravens, on the other side, have had their moments, but they have not shown enough to be viewed as one of the top contenders in the CDL, especially on respawns.

Los Angeles Thieves met with Carolina Royal Ravens in the first match of CDL 2025 Stage 1 Major, and won convincingly, picking up every map except for Search & Destroy Red Card, which is one of Royal Ravens’ best S&D maps.

There is little to suggest the rematch will play out any differently, mainly because the Thieves are a much better respawn team and they boast a better map pool across all game modes.

S&D is still their weakness. LA Thieves are 31.3% on Search & Destroy, with a 5-11 record and a 50% map win rate on just Hacienda and Red Card. Still, even though the Thieves do not do well on S&D, they still made the Major finals, which alone is a good enough indication of how strong this team is.

Carolina Royal Ravens Form

Carolina Royal Ravens finished CDL 2025 Stage 1 Major in fourth place, which is nothing to sneeze at. However, that does not mean they are one of the top teams in the league.

At the Major, the Royal Ravens defeated the Falcons, OpTic Texas, and Toronto Ultra, but were no match for Miami Heretics who bested them 3-1 in the lower bracket semifinal.

Not a terrible run, but it highlighted just how weak the Ravens’ respawns are and until Carolina Royal Ravens improve their Hardpoint (34.8% win rate), they should have no business beating the league’s top dogs.

Los Angeles Thieves v Carolina Royal Ravens

Carolina Royal Ravens are priced as substantial underdogs for this match and there are many reasons to support it. They already lost to LA Thieves at CDL 2025 Stage 1 Major, and have not show much improvement in the lower bracket.

While their Search & Destroy is solid, Control and Hardpoint need work, especially the latter, where the Royal Ravens are 34.8%, with a positive win rate on just Red Card.

There is a world where Carolina Royal Ravens take Search & Destroy off LA Thieves again, but I do not see them winning Control or Hardpoint. Another 3-1 victory for LA Thieves seems like the most likely outcome.
