However, we’re working off the assumption that TES are as good as they look on paper, as they’ve played just two games so far.

Top Esports are billed as massive favourites, which comes as no surprise as this is a very stacked roster. However, considering how their game against Team WE played out, there are reasons to believe TES can slip against LGD Gaming.

It will take a massive blunder from Top Esports to lose on Sunday, but it is evident that they are still figuring things out, which could open up an opportunity for LGD Gaming to find an opening and do some damage.

Looking at this LGD Gaming roster, it is hard to feel overly excited about how much this team can accomplish, as it consists of mainly unknown players at the LPL level.

This makes it hard to say how good LGD really are. But just because LGD Gaming do not field known names, that does not mean this roster is bad.

Moreover, a group of “nobodies” have a lot to prove, and sometimes that is enough for the team of nobodies to surprise. Will that happen on Sunday is anyone’s guess, granted it does play into the offered betting odds, pricing LGD Gaming as massive underdogs.

LGD Gaming got swept by Anyone’s Legend in their first match of LPL 2025 Split 1, but they looked good on maps one and two. LGD also bested Team WE, who are a bad team, so that win does not prove much. On the other hand, LGD took care of business against a weak team, and that’s a good sign.

Top Esports made some changes this offseason, but have not gotten off to a strong start to the 2025 season. They picked up a decisive win against Team WE with a slight struggle on the third map and lost to Anyone’s Legend (1-3), but they showed good things.

Those results suggest that Top Esports will blossom into a great team, but they are not quite there yet.

Now, the main question is whether TES are, in their current state, shaky enough to slip once against LGD Gaming. The market is suggesting there’s a very small likelihood of that happening, but TES should’ve posted a more dominant win against Team WE to believe in that.

Comparing these two rosters on paper, Top Esports are the superior team; however, there’s more to it. LGD Gaming and Top Esports have both faced Team WE and Anyone’s Legend and looked fairly similar in their last outings, so it is fair to question why Top Esports are priced as such massive favourites.

They unquestionably have a higher ceiling, but past results-wise, LGD Gaming and Top Esports are not that far apart.

It would not be the most shocking thing to see Top Esports run over LGD Gaming, but I’m ready to pay to see LGD Gaming take a bite out of one of LPL’s top dogs.
