Hanwha Life Esports entered First Stand 2025 as favourites to win it all, and they've yet to lose that tag, having managed a perfect 4-0 record with just two maps (8-2) lost. Karmine Corp clawed their way to the grand finals, but they've looked very rough around the edges since the group stage.

As much as KC deserve recognition for making it this far, they are arguably the fourth-best team to reach the playoffs as they were a bit lucky to beat CTBC Flying Oyster and did not show much in the group stage either.

Do not expect any surprises; Hanwha Life Esports should roll.

Hanwha Life Esports entered First Stand 2025 billed as the strongest LoL esports team of the tournament and they have kept that tag after a perfect run through the group stage and a clean sweep of Top Esports in the semifinals.

They dropped maps against Liquid and Karmine Corp during the group stage despite leading both, which points to the single weakness HLE have shown this tournament – they're not as dominant early as they could be.

But even with that "weakness", if we want to call it that, Hanwha Life Esports have been close to perfect and are rightly considered the best team at First Stand 2025.

Karmine Corp Form

Karmine Corp secured their spot in the First Stand 2025 playoffs by the skin of their teeth following their unexpected victory against the shaky Top Esports, effectively eliminating Team Liquid from the tournament.

Notably, KC lost to CFO during the group stage, yet they managed to defeat the Asia-Pacific representatives 3-2 in the previous round of the playoffs, thus booking their ticket for the grand finals.

Technically, this makes Karmine Corp the second-best team of the tournament, but I would argue that they're the fourth-best and even that is generous.

Before their win against CFO, Karmine Corp had won just three maps, two of which should've ended in a loss. And even their victory against the CFO was closer to a coin flip than anything else.

Verdict

Hanwha Life Esports v Karmine Corp

It is not easy to look past Karmine Corp as an inviting bet at 9.00. They took a map off Hanwha Life Esports during the group stage, so there is a world where they do it again. Yet the eye test proves that it will not come easy.

Hanwha Life Esports have proven to be a class above everyone else this tournament, and two minor slip-ups do not take that away from them. More importantly, based on what KC have shown recently, I am not convinced that they can compete with HLE.
