G2 Esports and Imperial Esports will clash on Thursday, March 20, in the first match of Group B at BLAST Open Spring 2025, marking their first clash of the season. But even with no past head-to-head record to look at, it is very easy to see why G2 Esports are billed as favourites.

Admittedly, G2 Esports have not performed as well as anticipated this season, with just one notable tournament run in January, when they placed top four at BLAST Bounty Spring 2025. However, G2 Esports have only really struggled against other elite teams – which Imperial Esports are not.

This is G2's game to lose, so barring any surprises, they should walk away with a comfortable 2-0 sweep. Imperial Esports can definitely take advantage of G2's mistakes, but I would not trust the Brazilian side to accomplish much against a superior team.

G2 Esports and Imperial Esports have yet to meet this season.

G2 Esports Form

G2 Esports enter BLAST Open Spring 2025 with a point to prove, following a premature exit from ESL Pro League Season 21, where they got knocked out by MOUZ in the first round of the playoffs.

They played well against lesser opponents in paiN Gaming, SAW, and GamerLegion but lost to The MongolZ and Natus Vincere.

A similar thing happened at Intel Extreme Masters Katowice 2025, where G2 Esports won against Team Falcons (2-1) but lost to Virtus.pro (0-2) and FaZe Clan.

They have not done well in the last two LAN events; G2 Esports had a solid showing at BLAST Bounty Spring 2025, where G2 Esports made the semifinals.

Since then, Janusz "Snax" Pogorzelski and his crew have cooled down and have not appeared like serious Big Event title contenders, although G2 have done well when faced with weaker opponents.

Imperial Esports are not expected to make it very far at BLAST Open Spring 2025. I have a hard time finding a good reason to feel hopeful about the Brazilian side's chances to contest the trophy or even a spot in the knockout stage.

Imperial are in solid form; however, They started the season with a runner-up finish at CCT Season 2 South American Series #6 and have since won Ace South American Masters Spring 2025 and CCT Season 2 South American Series #7, proving themselves as one of the top teams in the region.

However, their success over the year likely will not translate to BLAST Spring Open 2025, where Imperial will face much tougher opponents – even in the first round of the tournament.

G2 Esports have not been the most convincing top-10 Counter-Strike 2 team of the season, but they have proven that they can easily roll over any team not in the club of the elite few.

They will have to work on improving their performances against other elite teams if G2 Esports wish to contest the BLAST Open Spring 2025 trophy, but beating Imperial should come easy.
