Both teams enter this match with a 0-2 record and are facing elimination. FURIA have lost to MOUZ (1-2) and Team Liquid (0-2), whereas MIBR lost to Vitality (1-2) and Eternal Fire (0-2).

Neither team found much success, but they had to fight challenging opponents. Nevertheless, based on their recent form, it is hard to justify saying either squad should be favoured.

FURIA are billed as favourites, which makes sense, considering their past success. But of late, they’ve not looked as potent, so it is fair to expect a closer affair.

FURIA started their ESL Pro League Season 21 campaign in the first stage, where they did not produce very promising results. The Brazilian outfit won their first match against Lynn Vision Gaming (2-0), lost the next two against SAW (1-2) and MIBR (0-2), and bounced back with back-to-back wins against NRG (2-1) and M80 (2-1).

After a rough start to the tournament, FURIA failed to accomplish much in the second stage, as they fell against MOUZ (1-2) and Team Liquid (0-2). In their defence, FURIA took a map off MOUZ and performed relatively well against Liquid.

However, despite somewhat better performances, I would not trust FURIA to perform as they’ve proven to be very inconsistent.

MIBR Form

MIBR looked good at the start of ESL Pro League Season 21. They made it through the first stage with a 3-1 record, which includes wins against Nemiga Gaming (2-1), FURIA (2-0), and TYLOO (2-0), while their only loss came against GamerLegion (0-2).

In the second stage, MIBR have yet to find as much success with losses to Team Vitality and Eternal Fire. On a more positive note MIBR took a map off Vitality and showed some life on Inferno (8-13) against Eternal Fire. Nevertheless, MIBR showed that they do not belong among the elite teams.

Yet, the same can be said about FURIA in their current form.

Verdict

FURIA v MIBR

FURIA have looked better so far in this tournament, having taken a map off MOUZ, and they performed relatively well against Team Liquid in the last round. However, this is hardly a good enough reason to have them priced as 1.57 favourites for this match.

This is a local derby between two rosters who know each other well, which usually leads to closer affairs, and I expect this to be the case here.

MIBR bested FURIA once before this tournament, and at outsider odds, I’m ready to take their side again.
