FunPlus Phoenix Announce Their LPL 2025 Roster

League of Legends Pro League (LPL) team FunPlus Phoenix have unveiled their LoL roster for the 2025 season. The new-look lineup features five new arrivals and mid laner Yang "Care" Jie as the only carryover from 2024.
After a disappointing 2024 LPL season, FunPlus Phoenix decided to make significant changes to their LoL team. Since November, FPX have parted ways with six players, including support Kim "Life" Jeong-min, ADCs Seo "deokdam" Dae-gil and Qian "Xingye" Ze, jungler Cai "milkyway" Zi-Jun, and both top laners Zhu "Zdz" De-Zhang and Ping "Xiaolaohu" Xiao-Hu.
Mid laner Care was the only member of the team who survived the major exodus and will now link up with five new teammates who FPX signed in a bid to find more success in 2025.
Joining FunPlus Phoenix for the 2025 season are top laner Xu "sheer" Wen-Jie, junglers Zhao "Shad0w" Zhi-Qiang and Li "sorrow" De-Ming, ADC Gao "bat" Jun, and support Sun "Jwei" Jun-Wei.
Top laner sheer signs for FunPlus Phoenix as a fairly inexperienced player, having made his professional debut in 2024 with JD Gaming.
He will team up with another young prospect in jungler sorrow, who served as a temporary substitute for FPX last season and has now gotten a chance to prove himself on the big stage – although it remains to be seen whether he'll start over shad0w.
The 23-year-old Chinese jungler, like his potential replacement, has a lot to prove, joining FPX as a former substitute for LNG Esports. Shad0w did not play a single match last season and was last active in the LPL 2023 Summer Playoffs when he played for Ninjas in Pyjamas.
In the bottom lane, FunPlus Phoenix will field ADC bat, ThunderTalk Gaming academy graduate, who posted promising results in the 2024 LDL season. He helped TT Young reach two LDL finals and placed second at the LDL 2024 Grand Finals with MAX.
Support Jwei is one of the few players on FPX's new roster with previous LPL experience. Bilibili Gaming academy graduate has spent the last season playing for Ultra Prime and Rare Atom but struggled to accomplish anything noteworthy.
He placed last with Ultra Prime in the LPL 2024 Spring and exited the LPL 2024 Summer Playoffs in the 11th-13th placer with Rare Atom.
FPX's new lineup already debuted at Demacia Cup with sorrow as the starting jungler. Unfortunately, they failed to leave a positive impression, with a 0-3 record in Group A with losses against Bilibili Gaming Junior, LGD Gaming, and EDward Gaming.
FunPlus Phoenix will have a chance to improve the impression in LPL 2025 Split 1, which is set to begin on January 12, 2025.
For the first stage of the split, FPX got seeded into Group D with Invictus Gaming, Ninjas in Pyjamas, and Royal Never Give Up.
