Team Spirit are billed as the main favourites to win ESL Pro League Season 21, which, considering their form in the 2025 season, comes as no surprise. They're the highest-rated team of the tournament, and their star player, donk is in superb form, averaging a +1.70 performance rating.

Eternal Fire have done enough to make it this far in the tournament, but they've not looked great, and even that's an understatement. While Eternal Fire showed great things earlier this season, they are not in the best shape heading into the playoffs, so it is more than fair to doubt them and their chances of upsetting Team Spirit.

Eternal Fire qualified for ESL Pro League Season 21 playoffs by the skin of their teeth. They made it through Stage 1 with a 3-1 record but needed five games to reach three wins in the second stage.

The Turkish squad bested MIBR, paiN Gaming, and Team Falcons but were no match for 3DMAX and Team Liquid. In the final match of Stage 2, EF had to dig deep to defeat the shaky Falcons, but they were the better team on the day, winning with 13-8 on Inferno, 13-16 on Mirage, and 13-9 on Dust II.

That success does not prove that Eternal Fire are fit to compete against the world's hottest team.

Team Spirit Form

Team Spirit have looked phenomenal over the last four months. The reigning Major champions started the 2025 season by winning BLAST Bounty Spring 2025, and before ESL Pro League, they added a silver medal from Intel Extreme Masters Katowice 2025.

At ESL Pro League, Spirit have not shown any signs of slowing down as they enter the playoffs as the highest-rated team, averaging a 1.24 performance rating across all five players. Their star player, donk, in particular, has been on fire, with a 1.74 average performance rating over six maps played, ahead of his teammate, sh1ro, who sits at 1.35.

Admittedly, Spirit have not had the most challenging run through Stage 2, but they dominated TYLOO, SAW, and The MongolZ, which is a good indication of how good this squad is.

Eternal Fire v Team Spirit

Eternal Fire managed to put up a fight when they last met Team Spirit in the BLAST Bounty Spring 2025 finals, but even then, they fell short. At the time, Eternal Fire were also in much better shape, so it is more than fair to feel dubious about their chances to upset Spirit this time out.

There is little to analyse here. Team Spirit are in superb form, whereas Eternal Fire have recently shown cracks even against weaker opponents. Anything less than a 2-0 sweep for Spirit will be a disappointment.
