Admittedly, Liquid have looked far less convincing throughout the season, but they have shown some signs of life lately and look poised to, at the very least, force a close series on Thursday.

Eternal Fire have done reasonably well this season. They placed second at BLAST Bounty Spring 2025 and have since placed fifth-sixth at Intel Extreme Masters Katowice 2025 and made two quarterfinals at PGL Cluj-Napoca 2025 and ESL Pro League Season 21.

The Turkish squad are 6-4 from the last 10 games, albeit they have not beaten many notable teams over that stretch – NRG (2-0), FlyQuest (2-0), MIBR (2-0), paiN Gaming (2-0), and Team Falcons (2-1). On the other side, EF lost to TYLOO (0-2), 3DMAX (0-2), Liquid (0-2), and Team Spirit (1-2).

Admittedly, Eternal Fire played a competitive game against Team Spirit, but that minor accomplishment does not prove a lot in the greater picture.

Team Liquid have not looked great so far this season. But we got to see some improvement from Liquid during ESL Pro League Season 21 when they placed fifth-eighth with a 3-3 record.

That included losses to Falcons (1-2), MOUZ (0-2), and Team Vitality (0-2) and wins against FURIA (2-0), Eternal Fire (2-0), and 3DMAX (2-1). While not the most spectacular record, Liquid have shown improvement compared to what they've produced earlier in the season.

Admittedly, Liquid still have a long way to go, but they're on the right path.

Verdict

Eternal Fire v Team Liquid

Team Liquid defeated Eternal Fire at the start of the month, and I do not see a reason for them not to be able to do it again. It is fair to argue that Eternal Fire did not have the best run at ESL Pro League Season 21 and that they're capable of much more, but Liquid have been improving lately, so perhaps their ceiling is higher than what it may seem.

I'm not quite sold on Team Liquid being the better team, mainly because of how scary Eternal Fire can be when their key players are performing well. A closer game is to be expected.
