Carolina Royal Ravens and Miami Heretics will cross swords on Friday, March 14, in the final week of Call of Duty League (CDL) 2025 Major 2 Qualifiers. It'll mark their first clash since Major 1 when Miami Heretics won 2-1.

The rematch is expected to end the other way around. The Royal Ravens are billed as firm favourites to punish the inconsistent Miami Heretics and continue where they left off last weekend with a strong display against Cloud9 New York.

If the Royal Ravens can show the same level of play they did last round, they should be in a good spot to defeat the Miami Heretics, but I do not expect to see a clean sweep.

Carolina Royal Ravens have quickly proven to be one of the top-six teams in the league, but they have been struggling on Hardpoint, which prevented them from breaking into the elite few.

Their Search & Destroy is excellent, and the Royal Ravens can hold their own on Control, where they boast a +50% win rate.

The Hardpoint issues did not seem to phase them last weakened, however, when the Royal Ravens defeated Cloud9 New York. Whether this indicates that the Carolina Royal Ravens figured out how to play Hardpoint or not is up for debate, but I'll need to see more from them before I believe it.

Miami Heretics Form

Miami Heretics put together a 2-3 record in CDL 2025 Stage 2 Major Qualifiers, with wins against Los Angeles Guerrillas M8 (3-0) and OpTic Texas (3-0), and losses against Vancouver Surge (1-3), Minnesota RØKKR (1-3), and Atlanta FaZe (1-3).

Heretics played well against OpTic, whom they bested without major issues, and they played a close game against Vancouver Surge, but that was mostly thanks to Surge's poor showing more than anything else.

I am not too impressed with Miami Heretics and what they've shown this season. While they have proven that Heretics can take maps off anyone, they are way too inconsistent to have much faith in them to close out the series.

Verdict

Carolina Royal Ravens v Miami Heretics

Miami Heretics have produced a few solid games at this stage, but they have some apparent weaknesses, namely Control and Search & Destroy, which need a lot of work. They are, however, very solid on Hardpoint, especially on their best maps – Protocol and Skyline.

This is an area where Heretics can do some damage against the Royal Ravens, whose Hardpoint has not been great until last week. I do not believe that one good showing proves the Royal Ravens have figured things out on Hardpoint, so while this is their game to lose, Miami Heretics can force a close game.
