Boston Breach vs Vancouver Surge Predictions

Boston Breach and Vancouver Surge will face off on Friday, February 28, in the first round of Call of Duty League (CDL) 2025 Stage 2 Minor, in what will be a proper test for the Breach, who have not looked too potent lately.

With four losses from their last six outings, Boston Breach have failed to amaze with their recent outings, especially last weekend, when they fell against Toronto Ultra and Cloud9 New York.

On the other side, the Surge have been in great shape since the latter stages of Stage 1 Major qualifiers, and while their run at the Major was lacklustre, the Surge have managed to take down FaZe, C9NY, and LAGM ahead of this fixture.

Vancouver Surge have looked much cleaner in their recent outings and are rightly billed as the favourites for this match. Anything less than a 3-1 victory will be a disappointment.

  • Boston Breach are in terrible form
  • Vancouver Surge are on a three-game winning streak
  • The right team is favoured

Head to Head

Boston Breach and Vancouver Surge last met in CDL 2025 Stage 1 Major Qualifiers, when the Surge won.

Boston Breach Form

Boston Breach enter this match with a 2-4 record from their last six outings and they are on a two-game losing streak. Last week, they lost both of their series. While the Breach forced Toronto Ultra to five maps (2-3), they were toothless against Cloud9 New York and lost 0-3.

Even though the Breach showed some good things earlier in the season, they seem to be trending in the wrong direction. Their teamwork is lacking, and the slaying has been nothing short of disappointing of late.

There is nothing about this team to feel excited about, and while they are still in a better spot than the LA Guerrillas M8 and Vegas Falcons, I would not put them any higher than that.

Vancouver Surge Form

Vancouver Surge are 6-2 from their last eight outings, which includes two losses at the Major against Toronto Ultra and Minnesota RØKKK. Their LAN struggles are not to be ignored, but the Surge have done well online, especially this stage, with wins against FaZe (3-1), Cloud9 New York (3-2), and Los Angeles Guerrillas M8 (3-1).

They are not quite up there with the elite few teams, mainly due to their vulnerabilities on Search & Destroy. But the Surge have a deep map pool and seem like an entirely different team with the arrival of Travis "Neptune" McCloud.

My suspicion is that the Surge will continue to get better as time goes on. But even in their current state, they’re a solid team that should not struggle against any squad not named Atlanta FaZe and Los Angeles Thieves.

Verdict

This is a match between two teams who are trending in the opposite direction. While the Surge did not look great in the earlier stages of the season, they’ve recently found serious momentum and have looked much better since the arrival of Neptune.

The Breach, on the other side, have looked completely lost in the latter stages of Stage 1 and early into Stage 2, struggling to find any traction. They’ve shown little to no redeeming qualities over the last few weeks - holding a negative win rate on Control and Search & Destroy - making it very easy to side with them.

There’s a good chance that Surge will sweep the Boston Breach.
