Boston Breach will take on Los Angeles Thieves on Thursday, March 20, in the upper bracket quarterfinals of Call of Duty League (CDL) 2025 Stage 2 Major, in what promises to be a one-sided fixture in favour of Thieves.

Los Angeles Thieves are billed as heavy favourites to defeat Boston Breach on Thursday, and that makes a lot of sense. I do not have to spend too much time explaining why the Thieves are the better team, as a quick look at what the two squads have accomplished in the second stage will give all the answers.

Boston Breach have had their moments, but they proved inefficient when faced with other top CDL teams. On the other side, the Thieves have been cruising since the start of Stage 2 and have proven to be essentially unstoppable. I don't see that changing here.

Boston Breach ended CDL 2025 Stage 2 Major Qualifiers with a 3-4 record, which includes victories against LA Guerrillas M8 (3-2), Vegas Falcons (3-1), and Miami Heretics (3-1). On the other side, the Breach lost to Toronto Ultra (2-3), Cloud9 New York (0-3), LA Thieves (0-3), and Atlanta FaZe (2-3)

This record does not look all that bad, considering the Breach forced Ultra and FaZe to five maps. But it is important to consider that Ultra are not too consistent and that FaZe purposely picked their weakest maps in that series, giving Boston an advantage.

I've not been impressed with Boston Breach at this stage. While they're not at the level of the Falcons or the Guerrillas, the Breach are hardly more than one of the bottom-four teams in the league.

Los Angeles Thieves enter Major 2 as the most dominant CoD esports team of Stage 2. They cruised through the Major 2 qualifiers with a 7-0 record and a +19 map differential (21-2).

Moreover, they won Minor 2, without any significant issues – besides the closely contested game against Vancouver Surge.

There is nothing that would suggest that the Thieves are anything less than the hottest team heading to Major 2, and as they've not shown any signs of slowing down, they look poised for a deep run. Anything less than a Major 2 title will be a major disappointment.

Boston Breach v Los Angeles Thieves

Out of the possible CDL 2025 Major 2 upper bracket fixtures, this is the most one-sided game we could've gotten. Even though the Breach can have their moments, they are outmatched in this fixture, with a significantly worse rate on all three game modes and no notable map pool advantage.

This is LA Thieves' game to lose, and while 3-0 sweeps are not easy to predict, a dominant victory from the Thieves seem like the most likely outcome.
