Atlanta FaZe will face off against Minnesota RØKKR on Thursday, March 20, in the upper bracket quarterfinal of Call of Duty League (CDL) 2025 Stage 2 Major, in their second meeting of the month after FaZe swept Minnesota RØKKR during the qualifiers.

The rematch is expected to end the same way, with FaZe billed as firm favourites to kick off their CDL 2025 Stage 2 Major campaign with a win. That does not sound too wrong, albeit FaZe are not as potent as they may seem and have some weaknesses which the RØKKR could exploit.

As much as I believe FaZe should win, Minnesota RØKKR can easily take one map off the favourites, namely on Search & Destroy.

Atlanta FaZe ended Major 2 qualifiers in second place with a 6-1 record and just one loss against the Vancouver Surge. This looks promising, but throughout the stage, FaZe have not looked as good as expected.

They nearly lost to Boston Breach in the penultimate week and did not impress with their 3-1 victory against LA Guerrillas M8 either.

This is still a very talented team, but FaZe have some weaknesses, namely their Search & Destroy map pool, and particularly Hacienda on both S&D and Hardpoint. While Atlanta FaZe tried to improve on the map, they've shown nothing worth celebrating, suggesting Hacienda will be perma-ban for them this Major.

This, however, leaves FaZe open to be forced to play on some of their other weak maps.

Minnesota RØKKR Form

Minnesota RØKKR ended the qualifiers in seventh place, with three wins (3-4), which they picked up across the opening two weeks before dropping three in a row – against FaZe, LA Thieves, and Surge – ahead of the Major.

Going into this match on a three-game losing streak, Minnesota RØKKR do not seem like a team that can pose a serious threat to the top dogs. However, for this match, in particular, the RØKKR look to be in a fine spot to do some damage.

Minnesota RØKKR are a very good Search & Destroy team on Hacienda (66.7%) and Vault (100%), and they do well on Vault Hardpoint and Hacienda Control. Admittedly, their map pool is not great, but Minnesota RØKKR's best maps are also some of FaZe's weakest.

Verdict

Atlanta FaZe v Minnesota RØKKR

There is no questioning Atlanta FaZe and their chances to defeat Minnesota RØKKR. Even though they've looked somewhat shaky, FaZe are a much better respawn team than the RØKKR, which alone should be enough for a comfortable win.

However, due ot their weaknesses on Search & Destroy, I can see this series going to map four, as regardless of whether we get S&D Hacienda or Vault, Minnesota RØKKR should be in a better spot to come out on top.
