Astralis have announced that they have extended Victor "Staehr" Staehr's contract for two years until 2027. This sees Staehr continue his journey with the Danish Counter-Strike 2 team, which started nearly two years ago.
Staehr joined Astralis in June 2023 after a one-and-a-half-year-long stint with Sprout, where the 20-year-old made his professional debut.
Throughout his tenure with Astralis, Staehr accumulated an impressive list of results. While he has not managed to help Astralis win a single LAN trophy, Staehr has made seven Big Event semifinals, which includes a top-four finish at BLAST Premier: World Final 2024 and, more recently, a bronze medal from PGL Cluj-Napoca 2025.
"I'm obviously super happy that everything is now in place, allowing me to focus 100% on Astralis. We are in a great place as a team, and it has been my clear priority to extend my contract so we can continue the positive progress we're making," said Staehr.
Astralis' Sports Director, Kasper Straube, also made a statement following Staehr's contract extension, stating that Staehr is a priority for the team and that it was important for them to reach an agreement to continue working together.
That desire was mutual, and with this extension, we now have all players secured for the coming years. This gives us both stability and the continuity we need to keep building on our positive progress.
While extending Staehr's contract was important for Astralis, the Danish squad still have lot of work to do, and that was acknowledged by Straube. However, as stated, the roster feels optimistic about their future.
We're not there yet, and we will definitely lose games along the way, but we have a team with both the quality and the mentality to keep improving and, over time, compete for titles. Today, we've taken an important step in that direction.
Astralis have not won a LAN event since 2019 and have not had the best start to the 2025 season, with a ninth-16th-place finish at BLAST Bounty Spring 2025 and a ninth-12th at Intel Extreme Masters Katowice 2025.
The Danish squad have, however, made some noise in late February with a third-place finish at PGL Cluj-Napoca 2025.
Their next competitive endeavour begins on Wednesday, March 19, when Astralis will face off against Team Vitality in Group A of BLAST Open 2025 Spring.
