Sunrisers Hyderabad are looking to hit the ground running in the 2025 IPL as they aim to go one step further than last year after losing to Kolkata Knight Riders in the grand final last year.

Rajasthan Royals were beaten by Sunrisers Hyderabad in their last outing as they fell one step short of the 2024 Grand Final.

SRH were very impressive last year as the finished their campaign in second. The eight wins they secured allowed them to take advantage of poor seasons for the likes of Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians, who both missed out on the playoffs.

Their Qualifier loss to Kolkata Knights Riders saw them handed a clash with Rajasthan Royals in their final chance to make the final. This was a chance they did not miss out on as they easily beat their opponents by 36 runs.

However, they were once again left to ponder what might have been as they were beaten by KKR in the Grand Final. Key to their excellent run was Travis Head. The Aussie notched 567 runs across the tournament and will return to SRH this year. I am backing him to fire his side to a win in their opening match.

Rajasthan Royals Form

Rajasthan Royals were able to secure a place in the top-four last year, but they had to endure a torrid run late in their campaign as they were knocked out of the competition at the playoff stage.

A run of four defeats led them into an Eliminator against Royal Challengers Bangalore. While they did beat RCB, they were no match for SRH in the second qualifier. Ultimately, the wheels fell off RR's season at the worst possible time.

The side arrive for the new campaign without Jos Buttler at the top of the order after he departed for the Gujarat Titans. While RR started the season well in 2024 with four consecutive wins, I do not back them to secure the victory in this one as they slip to defeat in their opening game.

I am backing Travis Head to top score for SRH as the home side secure victory in their opening match of IPL 2025.
