New Zealand romped to a nine-wicket win over Pakistan in their first Twenty20 clash as they stormed into a 1-0 lead in their five-match series.

Pakistan were humiliated in their opening match as they proved to be no match with bat or ball against the Black Caps.

New Zealand have won seven of their last 10 T20 matches against Pakistan, with the latter winning three times.

New Zealand were phenomenal with bat and ball against Pakistan in the first T20 as they blew their opponents away in one of the most one-sided T20 matches of the year.

Bowling first, Jacob Duffy tore through the visitors as he returned figures of 4/14 in 3.4 overs. Kyle Jamieson was right behind him with 3/8, with only one Pakistan batsman able to score more than 20 runs.

With the bat, New Zealand went about chasing down Pakistan's score of 91 all out with ease. The Black Caps were able to notch an impressive nine-wicket win, with 59 balls remaining. While Pakistan were nowhere near good enough on the day, credit must go to a New Zealand side that were at the top of their game.

In this one, I do not expect to see a match quite as one-sided, but I am backing another home win. New Zealand are the better side, while they also arrive in good form. I am backing Jacob Duffy to back up his excellent figures in the first game by starring once again.

Pakistan Form

Pakistan will hope their nine-wicket loss in their first T20 was not a sign of things to come, with their limited overs tour one that could feel like an eternity if they continue to lose games.

Batting first, Pakistan found themselves 1/3 as the home side ran rampant. Khushdil Shah showed some resistance as he scored 32, but it was never going to be enough as only three batsmen in total could escape a single figure score.

While I predict that Pakistan will put up more of a fight in the second T20, they have not shown enough in recent months to prove they are at the same level as their hosts. This five-match T20 series will likely end in a big series loss.
