The 2025 Indian Premier League will once again welcome the best batters, bowlers and fielders in the men's Twenty20 game all in one competition.
The Kolkata Knight Riders stormed to the title in 2024, and they arrive as an 8.00 shot to secure the trophy again, but are they the favourites?
IPL Winner | Odds |
---|---|
Mumbai Indians | 5.00 |
Chennai Super Kings | 5.50 |
Sunrisers Hyderabad | 5.50 |
Kolkata Knight Riders | 8.00 |
Royal Challengers Bangalore | 10.00 |
Rest of the field | 11.00+ |
The 2025 IPL promises to be the best iteration of the competition yet, with the best cricketers in the men's game flocking to the cricket-mad country to fight for silverware.
Ahead of the competition, the Mumbai Indians arrive as the outright favourites to secure the trophy at 5.00 despite finishing rock-bottom last year.
The Chennai Super Kings were another that missed out on the playoffs, but they are still fancied to have a say in where the trophy goes at 5.50. 2024's runners-up the Sunrisers Hyderabad are also right in the mix at 5.50 to go one step further than they managed last year.
The interesting proposition comes in the form of Kolkata Knight Riders. KKR won the competition in 2024, and they are priced at 8.00. Teams have often struggled to back up their successes from the year before, which may be why KKR are not nearer to the head of the betting.
This year, the sides have been split into two groups made up of five teams each. A team in Group A will play the other four sides in the same group twice. They will play one side from Group B twice, while they will play the other four sides in Group B once. This is the opposite for sides in Group B.
The new format will ensure each side plays the other nine teams at least once, while the double-headers will also provide an interesting prospect for sides, especially if their double-header comes against a weaker team.
Can the Kolkata Knight Riders defend their IPL crown, or will another side find a way to lift the trophy in the most hotly-anticipated cricket competition of the year?
