Crvena Zvezda vs Milano Preview
Crvena Zvezda Form & Team News
With two consecutive losses to Zalgiris and Bayern Munich, Crvena Zvezda have significantly diminished and jeopardized their chances not only for the playoffs but potentially even for a spot in the play-in. Therefore, the upcoming game is of essential importance for them.
It’s evident that the red-and-whites have been struggling over the past month, especially in the offensive phase. Many players are out of form and rhythm, which has reflected on the team’s results.
Last week, Zvezda started the game strongly on the road in Munich, but from the middle of the second quarter, they began an unstoppable decline in play, resulting in an unbelievable 25-0 run by Bayern.
The only player on Crvena Zvezda’s side who deserved a passing grade in that game was probably their best player this season, Joel Bolomboy, who scored 12 points and grabbed 19 rebounds, setting his personal Euroleague record.
Things didn’t improve much on Saturday against Cedevita Olimpija, where they only managed to score 69 points. It remains to be seen whether this is just a temporary player crisis or if there is a deeper cause.
Milano Form & Team News
Milano took a heavy loss to Fenerbahçe at home in the last Euroleague round, with a final score of 100-76.
But beyond the defeat, the injuries to Nikola Mirotic and Freddie Gillespie are what’s causing more concern.
Gillespie collided heads with Devon Hall just 4 minutes into the game and had to be stretchered off the court, while Mirotic picked up a painful injury to his coccyx.
The good news for Milano is that both injuries don’t seem to require long recovery times. However, it’s still uncertain whether either player will be available for the upcoming game in Belgrade.
Neno Dimitrijević’s status is also unclear after missing the last match against Treviso, while Josh Nebo is already confirmed to be out for the rest of the season.
Milano are currently tied with three other teams at 15-13, and every upcoming game is crucial as they battle for a spot in the playoffs.
